Talk:New User

Using the "by email" button (to the right of the "Create new account" button), the wiki creates the new account and sets a random/temporary password and mails that to the user. I think that's the easiest way to go about setting up the new accounts (less extra email by humans).

Do we need to indicate somewhere (here?) when we've created a new user [once we have the prospective users' emails going to all the admins] so the second or third person to have time to get to the email doesn't create the user again?

Actually, it seems like the wiki prevents you from duplicating user names, so we should be OK--as long as the new user hasn't chosen a username already in use :-)

We (jake) need to get a link to New User on Special:Userlogin so that everyone finds New User and the instructions. After the novel is done, I guess :D

I have actually been digging through the code looking for where to do that. It isn't as easy as i think it should be.
