After fixing critical NeoOffice bugs reported by our users in previous patches, we have continued work on additional speed and stability improvements for our users.
In June 2009 we released NeoOffice 3.0 Patch 4 and NeoOffice 2.2.5 Patch 12 with the following new speed improvements:
- Menu display speed improvements
Special thanks go to all who have donated to the NeoOffice.org project since we released NeoOffice 3.0. Without everyone's donations, not only would we have been unable to implement these speed improvements, we would not have been able to provide rapid investigation and fixing of all of the critical bugs found by users.
Menu display speed improvements
As a result of a fix for a critical crashing bug in NeoOffice 3.0 Patch 2 and NeoOffice 2.2.5 Patch 10, some users reported a delay of up to a second or more after clicking on the menubar or typing a menu shortcut. After much work on NeoOffice's Mac OS X menu handling code, we were able to regain the lost speed without causing any critical crashing bugs to reappear. As a result of this work, in NeoOffice 3.0 Patch 4 and NeoOffice 2.2.5 Patch 12 we have significantly improved menu display speed.
