Current Version

The latest version of NeoOffice is NeoOffice 2017.33.

NeoOffice 2017.33 requires an Intel Macintosh running OS X 10.8 - 10.11.

(NeoOffice 3.4.1 is still available for users with Intel Macs running 10.6.8 to 10.7.5; NeoOffice 3.4.1 is not compatible with OS X 10.11 El Capitan.)

You can find the MD5SUMs for current NeoOffice downloads on the NeoOffice MD5 Checksums page.

Updates

If you want to receive announcements whenever a patch or new release of NeoOffice is available, there are several options available:

  • NeoOffice has built-in update checking, which by default checks for updates once a week.
  • Users can also follow NeoOffice on Twitter or on Facebook at NeoOffice.org for update announcements.

2015.3 Classic Edition: This version fixes the following bugs:

  • When exporting a document to PDF, NeoOffice would not include any characters that use the Apple Color Emoji font.
  • In compressed and stretched horizontal text, NeoOffice would compress or stretch the text less than the text's Scale width setting.
  • In compressed and stretched vertical text, NeoOffice would compress or stretch Chinese, Japanese, and Korean characters horizontally instead of vertically.
  • In fontwork objects that have multiple lines of text, NeoOffice would draw all but the first line of text too far to the right.
  • NeoOffice would sometimes hang when opening .odb files.
  • When using an 800 x 600 or smaller monitor, NeoOffice would cut off the buttons at the bottom of tall dialogs.

2015.2 Classic Edition: This version fixes the following bugs:

  • When running in full screen mode on OS X El Capitan, NeoOffice would display some dialogs and dropdown lists behind the current document.
  • NeoOffice would draw any text that has its scaling the width setting set to greater than 100% wider than normal.
  • NeoOffice would generate an empty mail merge if you select the From: field in the Mail Merge dialog.
  • NeoOffice would hang for a minute or longer when updating links in spreadsheets.

2015.1 Classic Edition: This version fixes the following bugs:

  • NeoOffice would ignore most keystrokes when typing many common Indic language words.
  • Any color settings for changes in Writer documents that were set to By author or [None] would be unset when quitting NeoOffice.
  • NeoOffice would crash when opening LibreOffice HTML files that contain images.
  • NeoOffice would crash when rendering Indic characters using the "Arial Unicode MS" font.

2015 Classic Edition: This version fixes the following bugs:

  • After starting a slide show from a presentation document that is in full screen mode, exiting the slide show would disable the OS X menubar until the presentation document was closed.
  • When opening a document while in full screen mode that contains linked but not embedded images or OLE objects, NeoOffice would shrink the newly opened full screen mode window.
  • When saving certain documents that contain embedded images or OLE objects, NeoOffice would would fail to save one or more of the embedded images or OLE objects.

This version also fixes the following bug. Special thanks go to the engineers at LibreOffice.org who identified and provided a fix for this bug:

  • NeoOffice would crash when opening certain Microsoft Word .doc documents.

New Features in NeoOffice 2015 Classic Edition

If you have not downloaded a release of NeoOffice since version 3.4.1, there are several new features in NeoOffice 2015 Classic Edition. Some of the most significant include:

  • NeoOffice is now a 64-bit application instead of a 32-bit application so it does not have any of issues that we found when running NeoOffice 3.4.1 on OS X El Capitan Beta.
  • NeoOffice now uses Oracle's Java SE Development Kit (JDK) so Base users can view and edit NeoOffice, OpenOffice, and LibreOffice database files without having to install Apple's obsolete version of Java.
