These are the Release Notes for NeoOffice 2.0 Intel, currently available through the NeoOffice Early Access Program (or via a personal build from the source). Release Notes for NeoOffice 2.0 Alpha 3 PPC, the current freely-available version, can be found here.

Current Early Access Version

The latest Early Access version of NeoOffice is: 2.0 Alpha Intel.

NeoOffice 2.0 Alpha Intel requires an Intel Macintosh running Mac OS X 10.4; it will not install or run on PPC Macintoshes (users with PPC Macs should download 2.0 Alpha 3 PPC instead).

Current Patch

Alpha 2 Patch-0 is now available. (NeoOffice 2.0 Alpha 2 Intel already includes the fixes contained in Patch-0)

The new changes included in this patch are listed below:

  • Fixed an issue where certain items in the NeoOffice menu were non-functional
  • Fixed a crash when using the Install New Dictionaries or Install Fonts from the Web wizards
  • Fixed a crash when accessing Printer Settings
  • The print range setting in the print dialogue now works properly
  • Fixed a crash when creating a form in the Base form wizard
  • Fixed an issue where certain parts of Help articles were missing
  • Additional performance improvements

Note: Alpha 2 Patch-0 requires a full installation of NeoOffice 2.0 Alpha Intel and will not install on any version of NeoOffice 1.x or NeoOffice 2.0 Alpha PowerPC. Patch-0 includes all fixes and additions of previous patches.

Older Patches

NeoOffice 2.0 Alpha Intel is the first release of NeoOffice for Intel-based Macintoshes. It is based off of the OpenOffice.org 2.0.2 codebase and includes all of the fixes previously available in NeoOffice 1.2.2 and NeoOffice 2.0 Alpha 3 PPC.

New Features in NeoOffice 2.0 Alpha Intel

If you have not downloaded a release of NeoOffice since version 1.2.2, there are dozens of new features in NeoOffice 2.0 Alpha Intel. Some of the most significant include:

  • Based on OpenOffice.org 2.0.2 codebase
  • Support for writing OpenDocument (aka OpenOffice.org 2.0) file formats
  • Significant improvement in startup time
  • New database component
  • Enhanced sound support
  • Runs on Intel Macintoshes
