Using Images instead YES/No?
I think the page could be more clear if we used images instead of YES/No. Like http://ipodlinux.org/Project_Status

I concur.
For just the YES/No items, right? I think it might look a little odd given that we intermingle YES/No and descriptive answers, but I'm willing to give it a try. Someone find some nice, acceptably-licensed graphics (green circle with a check, red circle with an x) and we can try it out :) Circles, not gears ;)

I will try to find/draw pictures ASAP and I will make a test page. val1984 04:29, 17 August 2006 (CDT)
I think I like the images in general (but hold off on adding them to the English page and the official French page for a while), but can you make the colors a little less "fluorescent"/"neon" looking?
I'll try to find some example images whose red/green I like better :)

Sure I can, I will change them ASAP val1984 00:50, 18 August 2006 (CDT)
Much better; thanks! I'm still not 100% on the green, but don't worry about it for now; what we have is good enough for a while. When I'n not about to drive 10 hrs, I'll find a green color that is an example of what my mind is thinking of :)
Thanks for creating these!

Other improvements
I think I'd also like to see more obvious headings and alternating line colors like val1984's iPod Linux site. Does the site do it using the Wiki table syntax, and if so, can we do it easily *without* converting to Wiki tables?
(The Wiki table syntax is OK for small tables, but longer tables are harder to edit/follow that way; even if large tables aren't clearer in HTML--I think they are--the advantage of HTML is that you can edit it in any standard editor, even Neo, and gain readability.)

They are using the Wiki table syntax :
LCD | Input | Serial1 | Hard Drive | Audio Playback | Recording | Firewire | USB | Power Management | Video Out | ||
— | — | — | |||||||||

The background stuff looks like it is just a couple of style tags, nothing that only works easily in wikitable, so we should be able to port that to our table easily :) —sardisson 06:27, 17 August 2006 (CDT)
We might also think about using links for our * ** *** notes, sort of like how wikipedia does their footnotes. —sardisson 08:01, 17 August 2006 (CDT)
I agree :)
Is it possible to define stylesheets in the page? Because if we want to change the colors, we will have to find/replace every occurence of the color, it isn't handy :/
val1984 08:12, 17 August 2006 (CDT)
No, not unless Jake were to hack them into the default stylesheet :( OTOH, copying the page into an editor and running find/replace all on the color code and then pasting back is pretty simple. ;)
