Current Version
The latest version of NeoOffice is NeoOffice 2015 Classic Edition.
NeoOffice 2015 Classic Edition requires an Intel Macintosh running Mac OS X 10.8 or higher, including Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan Public Beta. Some Aqua features will appear differently depending on your version of Mac OS X. You can find the MD5SUMs for current NeoOffice downloads (main binary, language packs, and patches) on the NeoOffice MD5 Checksums page.
Patches
If you want to receive announcements whenever a patch or new release of NeoOffice is available, there are several options available:
- NeoOffice has built-in update checking, which by default checks for updates once a week.
- Twitter users can also follow NeoOffice on Twitter for patch and release announcements.
Current Patch
There is no patch available for NeoOffice 2015 Classic Edition.
Older Patches
NeoOffice 2015 Classic Edition has all of the same features as NeoOffice 3.4.1. Specifically, this version of NeoOffice contains all of the features that are in NeoOffice 3.4.1 plus the new features listed below. Below is a list of the bugs in NeoOffice 3.4.1 with Patch-17 that we fixed in NeoOffice 2015 Classic Edition:
- After starting a slide show from a presentation document that is in full screen mode, exiting the slide show would disable the OS X menubar until the presentation document was closed.
- When opening a document while in full screen mode that contains linked but not embedded images or OLE objects, NeoOffice would shrink the newly opened full screen mode window.
- When saving certain documents that contain embedded images or OLE objects, NeoOffice would would fail to save one or more of the embedded images or OLE objects.
This version also fixes the following security vulnerability. Special thanks go to the security researchers and engineers at LibreOffice.org who identified and provided a fix for this security vulnerability:
- NeoOffice would crash when opening certain Microsoft Word .doc documents.
New Features in NeoOffice 2015 Classic Edition
If you have not downloaded a release of NeoOffice since version 3.4.1, there are several new features in NeoOffice 2015 Classic Edition. Some of the most significant include:
- NeoOffice is now a 64-bit application instead of a 32-bit application so it does not have any of issues that we found when running NeoOffice 3.4.1 on OS X El Capitan Beta.
- NeoOffice now uses Oracle's Java SE Development Kit (JDK) so Base users can view and edit NeoOffice, OpenOffice, and LibreOffice database files without having to install Apple's obsolete version of Java.
