Patches for NeoOffice/J 1.1
Patch-3-With-Java-1.4.x-Update-2: The new changes included in this patch are listed below:
- Fixes a problem with font name matching
- Fixes additional minor problems
- If you wish to revert to Java 1.3.1 (NeoOffice/J 1.1 Patch-0), you can install the other "Patch-3" (no suffix)
Patch-3-With-Java-1.4.x-Update-1: The new changes included in this patch are listed below:
- Reduced startup time by minor reordering of font loading process
- Reduce toolbar flickering that has existed since the upgrade to Java 1.4.2
- 10 additional bugfixes
Patch-3-With-Java-1.4.x: The new changes included in this patch are listed below:
- Fix for a hanging bug that can sometimes occur when quittng NeoOffice/J
- If you wish to revert to Java 1.3.1 (NeoOffice/J 1.1 Patch-0), you can install the other "Patch-3" (no suffix)
Patch-2: The new changes included in this patch are listed below:
- Upgrade from Java 1.3.1 and Carbon to Java 1.4.2 and Cocoa; this upgrade offers
- Better performance (faster startup, less CPU and memory usage)
- Improved font handling
- Support for printing embedded EPS files, and other printing fixes
- Better support for certain international keyboard layouts
- Fix 105 bugs in NeoOffice/J 1.1 and in the various Performance Test Patches
- Update to version 1.1 of NeoLight
- Requires Mac OS X 10.3 or newer - due to our limited resources and the bugginess of Java 1.4.1 on Mac OS X 10.2.x, we are no longer able to support Mac OS X 10.2.
Patch-0: The new changes included in this patch are listed below:
- Certain files were missing from the full NeoOffice/J 1.1 download. This patch includes the missing files and restores the function of the "Preferences..." menu item.
- Update to version 1.0.4 of NeoLight
New Features in NeoOffice/J 1.1
If you have not downloaded a release of NeoOffice/J since version 0.8.4, there are dozens of new features in NeoOffice/J 1.1. Some of the most significant include:
- Compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger"
- Spotlight integration via NeoLight
- Quickstart service: no document or grey window needed to keep NeoOffice/J open
- Quickstart menu items also appear as a Dock menu
- Installer for localized Help files
- Use of system colors in parts of the application's user interface
- OpenOffice.org security fix
- Based on OpenOffice.org 1.1.4 codebase
- Right-to-left and complex text layout (e.g., Arabic, Hebrew, Thai, Hindi)
- Faster program startup
- Native Aqua menus
- New professional-quality splash screen, application and document Finder icons, and other artwork
- Localized user interfaces for 40 languages
- Mouse wheel support
- Text drag-and-drop support
- Improved PDF export
- Import of WordPerfect documents
- Support for Macintosh file aliases in open and save dialogues
- Automatic notification of new patches and versions (disabled by default in 1.1)
- Patches available as standard Mac OS X installer packages
- Drag-and-drop between NeoOffice/J and other applications
- Does not quit when clicking the red "close" widget on the last document window
- Support for Eudora, Entourage, and Mail as external mailer applications
