+ | There's a decent bit of "bio" on Patrick and Ed in the [[History_of_NeoOffice_and_OpenOffice.org:_Introduction|NeoHistory]] article (i.e., their roles in the OOo and Neo projects); Patrick's [http://planamesa.com/profile.html CV is on planamesa.com] and there's [http://conferences.oreillynet.com/cs/user/view/e_spkr/1377 a short bio of Ed] that went along with the O'Reilly presentation for more "standard" background. Ed's recent post in the wiki thread reminded me of some of the other unsung heros of multiple hats, so I'll outline some things here (bold = Neo/J-specific), but I really don't want to (re)write the profiles myself :).... --[[User:Sardisson|sardisson]] 04:51, 26 Apr 2005 (CDT) |

Splitting the Press Kit, linking
We're going to have to split the press kit into multiple pages, a la the NeoHistory article. One major section per page. And perhaps have all of the text, nicely formatted, available as a single .sxw and .pdf for one-stop reading.
Are we going to link the Press Kit on the front page, when it's ready?
---
Seems like a good idea. The press page should be linked from the front page (or from the left margin main navigation, if it is thought of as permanent page for press releases...).
And the press page content could be the press release, and the other subjects (like the comparing of Neo/J and the others) could actually be a part of the general Neo/J presentation. In other words: Some of the splendid content of the press-kit-page could be placed elsewhere (in a place that seems logical within the neowiki structure), and could be linked from the press page... I think the main point with the press page is to have a main entrance for journalists, it is not important that all information is on that very page, as long as it is easy to navigate to it...
Regarding profiles: I think that they should be short, a few lines (like now), and for those who have a cv on the web, let's make a link.

my input... the press kit should be just that. (not that I am an expert) but it seems to me that if it is so long you are thinking about breaking it up, than it is too long.
I'd say just one page which focuses on the overall program, another on the community. then we build up the individual pages on the programs (the neowriter, etc, pages that I started) for more detail type thing.
just my thoughts, i am really just on the side line of this one though (busy at work, sigh)

About to split....
Yeah, that Features section grew out of nowhere to become a really good page that needs to not be kept hidden in the Press Kit. The Press Kit should link to the Features, but so should lots of other pages.
I'm going to split off the Features part now....
P.S. , you're the number one most-wanted page :-)

=D it is good to be wanted

Screenshots
--Waldo 15:28, 27 Apr 2005 (CDT) Could the official screenshot look any uglier? Is there any way to replace/remove this?!
--sardisson 22:12, 30 Apr 2005 (CDT) It doesn't look much less ugly when you retake it under 1.1 RC Patch-3 with the lighter app colors--the problem seems to be the color scheme of the slide itself. We can choose not to list it in the Press Kit.
I actually updated the screenshots in the wiki last night; I was going to put up some of Fabrizio's so we could have some of the non-Writer modules, but Fabrizio's predate 1.1 RC Patch-1a and the lighter colors. Anyone have some interesting documents?

There is an uplodad ability, but it's disabled right now; can you turn it on? I'd actually like to use it, because we can make nifty galleries, and hopefully work around the issue we're having with the graphics in the press kit.

Moved Discussion from the Profiles section
Short bio on the people who dedicate themselves to Neo/J - Patrick and Ed (and probably several others with sustained contribution to the project. I'm new here, and really don't know who... but let all have the credit, they deserve it!)
