+ | OK, changed my mind again. That page was just getting too unwieldy, so I went ahead and moved Beta to its own page. We never expected the RC phase to last so long or have so many patches. In the future, I think each "full download release" (alpha 1, alpha 2, beta, release candidate, final) gets its own Release Notes page. The current release notes will always be at the stable url [[NeoOffice/J Release Notes]]. I've modified the previous plan with some <strike>strike</strike> elements and ''italics'' (added). |

Just a quick note: I think we want to keep these lists of changes for posterity, so when 1.1RC or Final comes out, we "move" (rename) this page NeoOffice/J 1.1 Beta Release Notes and start a new NeoOffice/J Release Notes page in its place. --sardisson 15:50, 23 Mar 2005 (CST)
Sounds good to me. --Waldo 21:26, 23 Mar 2005 (CST)
I put the RC in the patch page because--well, it's not exactly a patch, but it appears on the patch page. Hmm, mabye I should change that. This is release candidate "1"-- there may be more, no?
--Waldo 22:09, 30 Mar 2005 (CST)
Yeah. 1.1RC is not really a patch, but let's keep RC on this page and spin a new page for GM/Final, unless we start getting people trying to install RC-Patches on top of Beta. (I assume we'll have 1.1 RC Patch-1, Patch-2, etc., rather than new full RC builds--unless 1.1.5 comes out in the next two weeks. It shows up on Patrick's patch page for patch-check fuction, to point people to the new version even though it's not a patch.) I guess. I hadn't given this enough though :-(

I've put in a new header under the Older Patches to separate Beta patches from any possible RC patches (there 20 UNCOs in bugzilla, half added over the weekend plus about 10 assigned or reopened, so I'm expecting at least one RC patch before the new GM/Final build). -
We'll add a matching new header under Older Patches for 1.1 RC patches, and continue to list RC patches on this page. - When 1.1 GM/Final comes out, move the whole page over as NeoOffice/J 1.1
Beta andRelease Candidate Release Notes (it's a mouthful, but will only be around/linked for historical purposes, so not such a big deal). Don't move the talk; leave talk for the "stable" page. - Start a new NeoOffice/J Release Notes page, including
- the same top sections
- Current version
- Patches sections
- Text about the update listserv
- Current Patch (blank or like the text I've put in now for RC)
- Older Patches (blank)
- the New Features in NeoOffice/J 1.1 section
- with any major/minor new features from RC added to that list
- This latter section will always be a "quick coverage" of features between stable, released versions.
- Link to the new archived release notes
- the same top sections
