We recognize that NeoOffice may not be a solution for everyone. NeoOffice is also extremely easy to uninstall.

Note that it is not necessary to uninstall the previous version of NeoOffice before installing the new version; installation will simply replace the old version of the application, often preserving added items, and new versions generally are able to import preferences from the previous version, if they are present.

Contents

Uninstalling NeoOffice 2.1

  1. Drag the NeoOffice application from the Applications folder to the Trash.
  2. Drag the NeoOffice-2.1 folder from your user's Preferences folder (inside the user's Library folder) into the Trash.
    • If you upgraded from NeoOfffice/J 1.1, NeoOffice 1.2.x, or NeoOffice 2.0 Alpha or Aqua Beta, that version's preferences were left in place so that NeoOffice 2.1 could import them; see step 2 of the “Uninstalling NeoOffice 2.0 Aqua Beta”, “Uninstalling NeoOffice 1.2.2” or “Uninstalling NeoOffice/J 1.1” instructions for their location.
  3. Drag the org.neooffice.neooffice.plist file from your user's Preferences folder (inside the user's Library folder) into the Trash.
  4. Drag the NeoOffice.pkg file from the /Library/Receipts folder into the Trash.

Everything installed or created by NeoOffice itself is now in the Trash and can be deleted. Be sure to empty the Trash, or when double-clicking on a document that would have opened in NeoOffice, Mac OS X will try to open the copy of NeoOffice in the Trash and display a meaningless error.

If you also have a version of OpenOffice.org installed, NeoOffice is completely separate, and deleting one will have no effect on the other.

Uninstalling NeoOffice 2.0 Aqua Beta

  1. Drag the NeoOffice application from the Applications folder to the Trash.
  2. Drag the NeoOffice-2.x folder from your user's Preferences folder (inside the user's Library folder) into the Trash.
    • If you upgraded from NeoOfffice/J 1.1 or NeoOffice 1.2.x, that version's preferences were left in place so that NeoOffice 2.0 could import them; see step 2 of the “Uninstalling NeoOffice 1.2.2” or “Uninstalling NeoOffice/J 1.1” instructions for their location.
  3. Drag the org.neooffice.neooffice.plist file from your user's Preferences folder (inside the user's Library folder) into the Trash.
  4. Drag the NeoOffice.pkg file from the /Library/Receipts folder into the Trash.

Uninstalling NeoOffice 1.2.2

  1. Drag the NeoOffice application from the Applications folder to the Trash.
  2. Drag the NeoOffice-1.x folder from your user's Preferences folder (inside the user's Library folder) into the Trash.
    • If you upgraded from NeoOfffice/J 1.1, that version's preferences were left in Trash so that NeoOffice 1.2 could import them; see step 2 of the “Uninstalling NeoOffice/J 1.1” instructions for their location.
  3. Drag the org.neooffice.neooffice.plist file from your user's Preferences folder (inside the user's Library folder) into the Trash.
  4. Drag the NeoOffice.pkg file from the /Library/Receipts folder into the Trash.

Uninstalling NeoOffice/J 1.1

If you want to uninstall NeoOffice/J 1.1 after installing a version of NeoOffice 1.2, be sure to launch the version of NeoOffice 1.2 one time before deleting all of the NeoOffice/J 1.1 files, as NeoOffice 1.2 will read and import your existing NeoOffice/J 1.1 preferences and save you the effort of recreating them.

  1. Drag the NeoOfficeJ application from the Applications folder to the Trash.
  2. Drag the NeoOfficeJ-1.1 folder from your user's Library folder into the Trash.
  3. Drag the org.neooffice.neojava.plist file from your user's Preferences folder (inside the user's Library folder) into the Trash.
  4. Drag the opens___.ttf and various "Vera" (Vera.ttf, VeraBd.ttf, etc.) fonts from your user's Fonts folder (inside the user's Library folder) into the Trash.
  5. Drag the NeoOfficeJ.pkg file from the /Library/Receipts folder into the Trash.

Everything installed or created by NeoOffice/J is now in the Trash and can be deleted. Be sure to empty the Trash, or when double-clicking on a document that would have opened in NeoOffice/J, Mac OS X will try to open the copy of NeoOffice/J in the Trash and display a meaningless error.

If you also have a version of OpenOffice.org installed, NeoOffice/J is completely separate, and deleting one will have no effect on the other.
