NeoOffice®/J 1.1 is availabe today as a free download from the Planamesa Software website, http://www.planamesa.com/neojava/. A Real Macintosh Application Based on the latest stable OpenOffice.org codebase, NeoOffice®/J 1.1 offers extensive integration with Mac OS X. "NeoOffice®/J 1.1 is a standalone, double-clickable Mac application and does NOT require additional X11 software," says core engineer and NeoOffice.org founder Ed Peterlin. "Our goal has always been to make NeoOffice®/J 100% indistinguishable from any other Macintosh application in look-and-feel. Version 1.1 is a major step in that direction." A Feature-Complete Office Solution Not only does NeoOffice®/J import Microsoft™ Office and WordPerfect™ documents, but it exports to many formats including PDF, HTML, Flash, and Microsoft™ Office. NeoOffice®/J has a feature set common to major office suites, including collaborative features such as the ability to track changes as a document is sent from one user to another. Moreover, NeoOffice/J has localized user interfaces available in FORTY languages, and supports text entry in Roman and non-Roman scripts, including South Asian, East Asian, right-to-left and complex text layout scripts. "We've leveraged Openoffice.org's amazing internationalization efforts, which makes NeoOffice®/J a great solution for Mac OS X users all around the world," says Peterlin. OS X 1.4 "Tiger" Spotlight Support NeoOffice®/J 1.1 includes "NeoLight," a plugin for "Spotlight", the new search feature in Apple's Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger". --sardisson 07:43, 17 Apr 2005 (CDT) (first stab at a text; suggestions desired!) --Ovvldc 08:07, 21 Apr 2005 (CDT) (changed interpunction to break up that one long sentence and altered the second part to start with 'premiere release version'. Also added OpenOffice.org link for background and courtesy) --sardisson 12:13, 21 Apr 2005 (CDT) (tried to eliminate the "release" and "version" appearing in every sentence. --Waldo 15:33, 21 Apr 2005 (CDT) Touch ups --Waldo 15:39, 21 Apr 2005 (CDT) More touch ups --sardisson 15:49, 21 Apr 2005 (CDT) Press kit link, a couple of tweaks to Waldo's changes (MSO & WP, Planamesa first b/c of multilingual) some layout changes so the fixed-width table doesn't mork screens. --sardisson 16:03, 21 Apr 2005 (CDT) Export to MSO, too--that needs to be clear, without too much emphasis on MSO :-( --Ovvldc 17:01, 21 Apr 2005 (CDT) Added Flash to export list. --Waldo 22:28, 21 Apr 2005 (CDT) more crap.. added finder/mail integration & minor layout stuff.. in text this may have to be reformatted slightly to look good. Does anyone know ? It would be nice to get a CNET/news.com story out of it at the least, see who else will pick it up.. --sardisson 10:10, 22 Apr 2005 (CDT) Email to non-address to keep spambots off while we draft the release; change back before sending; tweaked the Finder/mail client integration and Mac fonts parts--have a look --Ovvldc 10:11, 22 Apr 2005 (CDT) Added track changes and fixed a typo. --sardisson 21:43, 25 Apr 2005 (CDT) I didn't like the one-long-sentence 2nd pgh, either, so it's been split/rewritten. Also rearranged/rewrote a couple of clauses in pgh 3. --Ovvldc 04:42, 26 Apr 2005 (CDT) minor nit: I changed the lost comma at the end of the second paragraph to 'and'. --Waldo 16:53, 26 Apr 2005 (CDT) some more changes...tried to add some personality. Fixed some spelling stuff.. other changes. Need to make sure that everyone quoted is fine with quotes attributed to them. They should probably read the press release out loud just to make sure they did in fact say it ;) --Waldo 21:14, 26 Apr 2005 (CDT) added url in first line, more quotes, rearraged some stuff.. trying to make it flow. --sardisson 02:27, 27 Apr 2005 (CDT) Trying to keep the cart behind the horse. Commented out the radically un-Patrick sections, and made Ed's fake quotes the meaningful ones. Tweaked some wording to improve flow. Put call for additional help back in the "release proper." Tried to work in "volunteer," esp. in light of Patrick's going back to work, but it should be more prominent. Also, it's getting pretty long, even with the sections commented out, so we need to be mindful. And put the right URL first in the first paragrpah. --Ovvldc 05:20, 27 Apr 2005 (CDT) Changed *free* into free. Should there be a mention of the 4000 hours of voluntary developer time that have gone into this application? --Ovvldc 05:28, 27 Apr 2005 (CDT) took away the double quotes around Real Mac Application, as that suggests the term is vague. --sardisson 22:49, 27 Apr 2005 (CDT) I don't like that "real mac application" header at all, because even without the quotes it's vague. To some people it means cocoa, to others an X11 app that runs on the Mac is a real Mac app, because it doesn't need an emulator, e.g. VPC. But I don't know what to replace that heading with yet.... Let's keep questions/discussions in the trinity topic and only note what's changed here, for the benefit of translations. I've moved the existing "talk" (except this) to the discussion tab)

--Ovvldc 16:37, 25 Apr 2005 (CDT) Translated the new draft. I still do not like the long sentence in the second paragraph...
--Ovvldc 04:52, 26 Apr 2005 (CDT) fixed to match the latest draft. Better text, maybe too many 'Mac OS X' in the second paragraph.
