These are the Release Notes for NeoOffice 3.3 Beta 2, currently available for testing. Release Notes for NeoOffice 3.2.1, the current stable version, can be found here.

Current Beta Version

The latest Beta version of NeoOffice is: 3.3 Beta.

NeoOffice 3.3 Beta requires an Intel Macintosh running Mac OS X 10.5.8 or higher. Some Aqua features will appear differently depending on your version of Mac OS X.

Patches

If you want to receive announcements whenever a patch or new release of NeoOffice is available, there are several options available:

  • NeoOffice has built-in update checking, which by default checks for updates once a week.
  • Trinity users can sign up for email notifications of any release or patch announcements posted in this topic by clicking on this link.
  • If you prefer feeds to email, you can subscribe to our patch and release announcements RSS feed by clicking on this RSS feed using your web browser or feed aggregator.
  • Twitter users can also follow NeoOffice on Twitter for patch and release announcements.

Current Patch

Patch-1 is now available.

The new changes included in this patch are listed below:

  • NeoOffice no longer crashes in certain cases when selecting the NeoOffice::Quit or File::Exit menus.
  • Inserting characters using the Mac OS X Character Viewer window once again works properly.
  • Menus are again displayed in the menubar when an embedded object in a document is in edit mode and focus is received from a different application.
  • The Format::Character menu is no longer disabled when an embedded Calc object in a document is in edit mode.
  • Lines in certain charts no longer appear twice as thick as they appear in previous versions of NeoOffice.
  • Pressing the Page Up and Page Down keys when the toolbar’s font combobox is open no longer causes unexpected characters to be displayed.
  • Listboxes in several Base windows are now drawn properly.
  • Clicking and holding but not moving the mouse in an image in a Writer document will no longer delete the image.
  • Prevented NeoOffice's underlying OpenOffice.org code from triggering occasional hangs during the patch update check process.

Note: Patch-1 requires a full installation of NeoOffice 3.3 Beta and will not install on any version of NeoOffice 3.2.x, 3.1.x or 3.0.x. Patch-1 includes all fixes and additions of previous patches.

Older Patches

NeoOffice 3.3 Beta includes all of the fixes previously available in NeoOffice 3.2.1 with Patch-6, but it requires a new, full download.

New Features in NeoOffice 3.3 Beta

Some of the most significant new features in NeoOffice 3.3 Beta include:

  • Compatible with Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion and Gatekeeper
  • New Cocoa code replaces Java, which is no longer required for core functionality
  • Improved startup and printing speed
  • English, French, German, and Italian language packs included in the default install
