Current Version

The latest version of NeoOffice is: 3.0.

NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access 2 requires a PPC or Intel Macintosh running Mac OS X 10.4.11 or higher. (Users of Mac OS X 10.3.9 should continue using NeoOffice 2.2.5.) Some Aqua features will appear differently depending on your version of Mac OS X.

Patches

If you want to receive announcements whenever a patch or new release of NeoOffice is available, there are several options available:

  • NeoOffice has built-in update checking, which by default checks for updates once a week.
  • Trinity users can sign up for email notifications of any release or patch announcements posted in this topic by clicking on this link.
  • If you prefer feeds to email, you can subscribe to our patch and release announcements RSS feed by clicking on this RSS feed using your web browser or feed aggregator.

Current Patch

3.0 Patch-17 is now available.

The new changes included in this patch are listed below:

  • Fixed possible causes of occasional deadlocks in menu updates
  • Fixed a bug where a certain .xls file could cause crashes when opened on PowerPC
  • Fixed copy-paste incompatibilities related to line endings with various third-party applications
  • Fixed a problem that led to drawing artifacts remaining when dragging tabs in rulers
  • Fixed an issue where NeoOffice failed to launch on recent Snow Leopard seeds
  • Fixed a bug where font ascent could sometimes returns zero
  • Fixed an issue that caused no contrast on check and list boxes in form
  • Fixed a problem where sometimes it was not possible to unhide rows in spreadsheet
  • Fixed a bug where Base could crash after creating report
  • Fixed an issue where percentages in Calc cells were treated as zero
  • Fixed a problem which led to EPS images appearing larger in slideshows than in edit mode
  • Fixed a bug which could cause improper kerning when exporting to PDF
  • Fixed a bug that caused sending a document via e-mail always to use Apple Mail

Note: 3.0 Patch-17 requires a full installation of NeoOffice 3.0 and will not install on any version of NeoOffice 2.2.5 or NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access. Patch-17 includes all fixes and additions of previous patches.

Older Patches

NeoOffice 3.0 includes all of the fixes previously available in NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access 2 with Patch-1 but requires a new, full download.

New Features in NeoOffice 3.0

If you have not downloaded a release of NeoOffice since version 2.2.5, there are dozens of new features in NeoOffice 3.0. Some of the most significant include:

  • Based on OpenOffice.org 3.0.1 codebase
  • Requires Mac OS X 10.4.11 or higher
  • Improved performance
  • Support for the Mac OS X Services menu within NeoOffice (read-only)
  • Official support for PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs
  • Experimental support for developer seeds of Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard"
