Current Version

The latest version of NeoOffice is: 2.0 Aqua Beta 3.

NeoOffice 2.0 Aqua Beta 3 requires a PPC Macintosh running Mac OS X 10.3 or 10.4 or an Intel Macintosh running Mac OS X 10.4. Some Aqua features will appear differently depending on your version of Mac OS X.

Aqua Beta 3 Patch-17 is now available.

The new changes included in this patch are listed below:

  • Fixed a significant slowdown in opening and saving files introduced by Patch-3

Note: Aqua Beta 3 Patch-17 requires a full installation of NeoOffice 2.0 Aqua Beta, Aqua Beta 2, or Aqua Beta 3 and will not install on any version of NeoOffice 1.x or NeoOffice 2.0 Alpha. Patch-17 includes all fixes and additions of previous patches.

2.0 Aqua Beta 3 Patch-1: The new changes included in this patch are listed below:

  • Fixed an issue where focus would be lost after dismissing an OOo dialogue
  • Fixed an issue where switching windows using the Window menu failed
  • Fixed an issue that prevented page orientation from being changed

2.0 Aqua Beta 3 Patch-0 (aka NeoOffice 2.0 Aqua Beta 3): The new changes included in this patch are listed below:

  • Fixed an issue where "Save As" would not function properly
  • Fixed an issue with the OpenVanilla Chinese input method
  • Fixed the patch installer to return an error when NeoOffice is in use by any user
  • Fixed additional issues with incorrect painting of Aqua widgets
  • Fixed an issue where some types of databases could not be created
  • Removed buggy OpenOffice.org code that prevented open and save operations from working on AFP network volumes
  • Fixed an issue where NeoOffice was sometimes unable to compose characters with diacritics
  • Fixed a crash in Base that occurred when there were relationships among more than 2 tables
  • Fixed an issue where the cursor would appear to freezes and the keyboard would become unresponsive after a long period of typing

2.0 Aqua Beta 2 Patch-2: The new changes included in this patch are listed below:

  • Automatic selection of closest matching printer paper size
    In previous versions of NeoOffice, setting the page size in the Format -> Page dialog did not change the paper size used by the printer. With Patch 2, NeoOffice will now automatically select the closest matching paper from the list of paper size listed for your printer in the File -> Print Settings dialogue.
  • NeoOffice now supports opening and saving files on iDisks
    The OpenOffice.org code that NeoOffice is based on has never been able to open or save to iDisk folders. With Patch 2, you can open and save files in iDisk folders just like any other folder.
  • Indic language improvements
    Due to a Java bug, previous versions of NeoOffice did not support input of Indic conjuncts. With NeoOffice 2.0 Aqua Beta 2's support for Java 1.5, Patch 2 now supports input of Indic conjuncts in they have Java 1.5 installed on their machine and if they select Java 1.5 as their default Java version in the NeoOffice -> Java pane of the Tools -> Options dialog.
  • Fixed an issue when selecting Microsoft Entourage as the email client
  • Fixed an issue where horizontal scrolling in Calc was jumpy on Intel
  • Fixed an issue where selection from long lists didn't work when using Java 1.5
  • Fixed a crash that appeared in some cases when changing the font of a large selection
  • Fixed problems related to libraries installed by custom Unix utilities (like Fink or The Gimp)
  • Fixed an issue with poor centering of some buttons in the evil scanner dialogue

2.0 Aqua Beta 2 Patch-1: The new changes included in this patch are listed below:

  • Fixed an issue where pressing certain keys caused NeoOffice to beep

2.0 Aqua Beta 2 Patch-0 (aka NeoOffice 2.0 Aqua Beta 2): The new changes included in this patch are listed below:

  • Fixed a number of issues related to the native file dialogues
  • Fixed an issue where using the "Export as PDF" command would suggest a filename with a double-part extension
  • Worked around an Apple bug where keystrokes that generate multiple characters would only generate a single character in NeoOffice
  • Fixed an issue where Arabic text would display incorrectly when font fallback was occurring
  • Fixed an issue where Fontwork elements would be displayed too large
  • Fixed an issue where text in the Skia font failed to appear
  • Fixed a crash when accessing the Fonts tab in several dialogues
  • Fixed an issue where scrolling would flicker and scrollbars could vanish
  • Fixed a crash when opening Excel documents using certain Excel forumalæ
  • Fixed some cases where selecting "Save As" would cause a crash
  • Fixed a crash that occurred when deleting an original file after opening and converting it to another format in NeoOffice
  • Fixed an issue where certain settings would not be honored when selecting them in Print Options at printing time
  • Fixed an issue with wrapping buttons in the ugly scanner dialogue
