Well, we're late to the ballgame on this one (again), so feel free to use this condensed-and-updated version of the 1.1 announcement for PR purposes beginning at 12am US Eastern time Tuesday (UTC -4, Tuesday 29 August); editing may occur up to that point.

Do not provide wiki URLs to high-traffic sites (slashdot, digg, macslash)—e.g., do not give anyone this URL; copy the text instead, and link to planamesa.com/neojava (without the /en/) or neooffice.org for any links.

NeoOffice® 2.0 Aqua Beta 3 Released

August 29, 2006

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NeoOffice: Better, Faster, Aquafied!

Sunnyvale, California, USA - Planamesa Software and the NeoOffice community are proud to announce NeoOffice® 2.0 Aqua Beta 3, the first public release of an "Aquafied" version of our Mac OS X-native port of the OpenOffice.org office suite. NeoOffice 2.0 Aqua Beta includes Microsoft Office-compatible word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications, as well as drawing and database applications and macro support.

NeoOffice 2.0 Aqua Beta 3 offers a significantly enhanced "Aqua" appearance, enhanced international input support, as well as significantly improved overall performance over NeoOffice 1.2. Based on the latest stable OpenOffice.org codebase (2.0.3), this release also include native open and save dialog support for reading and writing files in the international standard ISO 26300 OpenDocument (ODF) file formats.

Pick A Flavor

NeoOffice 2.0 Aqua Beta 3 is now available for two processors: PowerPC or Intel Macs running Mac OS X 10.3 or higher.

Simply download the version for your Mac and run NeoOffice at full speed — without need for special emulation.

Everything You Loved in 1.x Is Here

As with previous versions, NeoOffice 2.0 Aqua Beta 3 offers extensive integration with Mac OS X, incorporating many enhancements not available in OpenOffice.org releases. Key Macintosh features include a native Aqua menu bar, use of the Mac OS X printing system, full clipboard support, drag-and-drop, Mac "command" key shortcuts, mouse scrolling, native support for Mac fonts, enhanced icons and graphics, and, via the built-in NeoLight plugin, support for Spotlight on Mac OS X 10.4.

Get It Now

NeoOffice 2.0 Aqua Beta 3 is available today as a free download from the Planamesa Software Web site at http://www.planamesa.com/neojava/.

Special Thanks

Thanks to the NeoOffice Early Access Program members, the developers, and countless volunteer contributors who made this release possible.
