Turning off automatic word completion

  1. From the Tools menu, choose AutoCorrect/AutoFormat....
  2. Next, if it is not already selected, choose the Word Completion tab from the top of the window.
  3. Make sure that Enable word completion is unchecked.
  4. Press OK at the bottom of the window.

Turning off other automatic formatting

You can disable other common autoformatting annoyances in the same AutoCorrect/AutoFormat dialogue.

  1. From the Tools menu, choose AutoCorrect/AutoFormat....
  2. Choose the Options tab from the top of the window.
  3. Uncheck Apply numbering - symbol: •, for instance, to disable automatic list numbering.
  4. Uncheck Apply border, for instance, to disable the transformation of a series of dashes, underscores, or asterisks into borders (lines).
    • Most of the other options are self-explanatory.
  5. Press OK at the bottom of the window to save your changes.
